FRANKLIN ‐ Girl Scouts Sydney Rosen and Thalia Centolanza, members of Troop 66880, have earned their Silver Award.
The Silver Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout Cadette can receive. To earn the award, Scouts must complete a project that benefits their community.
For their project, “Closer to Home,” Sydney and Thalia contacted area companies and held drives at school and church to collect more than 35 books, 135 DVDs and 40 video games, which they donated to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital’s adolescent unit for its teenage patients. They also held an open house to raise awareness about the project and collect donations from those who couldn’t make it to their drives.
Sydney and Thalia are both residents of the Somerset section of Franklin. Sydney is a freshmen at Franklin High School and Thalia is a freshmen at the Montgomery Academy in Basking Ridge.
