Speech and Language therapy is offered on an individual or small group basis. This program is based on the student’s needs and targets specific objectives while considering his or her level of understanding and confidence. Our Specialist works closely and cooperatively with the classroom teachers so that areas of remediation and social vocabulary being introduced are integrated throughout the school day. The continuum of options at Montgomery Academy also includes student related services in the areas of physical and occupational therapy and the use of assistive technology where required by the IEP.

Montgomery students proudly serve as members of our school’s Nutrition Committee to ensure that our lunch program not only tastes great, but exceeds state and federal nutrition guidelines. Our students have fun celebrating fruits and vegetables of the month and planning, preparing and serving lunch to their peers and the staff which dines together as a group in one of two lunch periods.

Our school nurse serves as an integral part of our staff, communicating regularly with the therapeutic team about the challenges our students face at school such as lingering illness, lack of rest, injury and medical or medication oriented concerns. Our school nurse keeps the whole community apprised of important health and safety issues, privacy, and compliance.
